Specimens aren't just cleaned bones or neatly pinned insects. Nicole Kolbow photographed this severed duck wing specimen and printed the photograph using the lithographic method. Lithography is a magical alchemical process using water, ink, sponges, and a limestone that prints the image to paper, very different then screenprinting. Nicole's focus of the image is to display the beauty found in the form and textures of the feathers despite the grisly subject matter.
